Great! September 12, 2009 cawlme Loved the cast aluminum. As I said in my review of the table... the chaise lounge is very comparable to the Lillian August cast aluminum patio furniture that I saw. Exact same design but tis product cost 5 times less.
Only problem was the off white pads. I am not quite sure how to keep these clean! All in all, very impressive looking and comfortable.
great chaise for the money May 5, 2009 Angela Wilson Keel (coastal area NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did a lot of research when looking for the right furniture. I love the looks of these chaises, and plan to order many more pieces from the Strathwood collection. It is extremely sturdy and the dark brown metal color is great. You can fold the chaise all the way flat on these by folding the arm under the frame. In fact, it goes a slight angle more than flat which is better for my back. My husband doesn't like this position and so puts a large diameter pool noodle under reclining part of the chaise so it's at the perfect angle for him (very easy modification.) The only thing I don't like is the cheap upholstery. The cushions are nice, dense and thick, but the fabric isn't a quality fabric. I suspected this before I bought them though. I am an interior designer, so am planning to buy a whole bolt of taupe sunbrella fabric and have them all recovered at the end of this season. Fortunately, I have some other clients that need the same type of work done so this is going to cost me nothing. For the reasonable price of these frames, the comfort level of the cushions, and for a look that is going to be comparable to "Frontgate" - I think they are well worth the price. If you know a good upholsterer and can get the fabric you want, it's not difficult to make these pieces into the showpieces they really are. If this furniture is going on a lanai or a covered deck, the color might not really be that must of an problem for some people. My issue was more with the quality of the material used. Definitely use a thick towel if you are planning to lie out in the sun and use oils.
Love Them, BUT April 18, 2009 Cuisinemom (Connecticut) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought the two-seater lounge, two chairs with ottomans, the dining table, 4 armless dining chairs and 2 dining chairs with arms. I love all of it and it looks great but there is one major problem. After 2 seasons the finish on the arms of several pieces is bubbling up and cracking off, exposing the aluminum underneath. We have used the pieces in a normal fashion - no excessive wear and tear that should cause this type of problem. I'm hoping the remaining pieces will hold up OK. The other downside to this furniture is the pillow are a bit difficult to keep clean, and because the table is slatted, things fall through a lot. I'm thinking of getting a plexiglass top for it. But other than the problem with the finish, I really love the furniture.
Light Weight September 30, 2008 Gwen T. Lanning (Mount Gilead, NC United States) Lighter weight than expected. I plan on putting weights on the bottom to keep them from blowing off the pier. Cusions are comfy.
Better than we expected August 8, 2008 M. Montalbano (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this furniture sight unseen (needless to say). Something we would not have normally done. We bought 2 chaise lounges, 2 chairs, 2 ottomans and 3 nesting tables. We looked around in our local area and saw what you could buy for the same money. It ranged from unacceptable to OK. We knew this wasn't a lot of money for what we were buying. We were very surprised and pleased. The furniture is well made and came well packed in perfect condition. The finish is nice. The furniture is sturdy. There were some very minor cosmetic flaws where the corners were welded together but the cushions hide them. The cushions are well made, comfortable and fit well. Like others have commented, the cushions are so light in color and don't look like they'll clean up easily. With kids and dogs I know what will happen in no time at all. I'm looking for some kind of washable cover for them.
I think we got more than our money's worth with this purchase. Our pool area looks great with this new furniture.
